Through the years I've given and received a lot of gifts. Some have lasted longer than others. Many have been forgotten or gone unused. But, I have kept every single engraved or personalized gift I have ever received.
At my job as a truck driver, I received an engraved Leatherman Wave multitool as a protection award from the firm to commemorate my five years of no accidents. One Father's Day I was given a personalized gift of a Swiss Army Knife with "Bob, #1 Dad" on it. My buddy Gary gave me a liquor flask with my initials engraved on the front for being a groomsman in his wedding. My wife purchased toasting flutes for our own wedding that she had say our names and wedding date on them. I guess so I wouldn't have an excuse at forgetting our anniversary!
These gifts were not all expensive. A combine of them were probably under or . Yet I know that I will keep them forever for sentimental reasons. I admit ... I've cleaned out my closet and pitched a few lame gifts that I've never used. But I'll keep that engraved Swiss Army Knife with my name on it forever. I don't care how scratched up or abused it gets. It has my name on it and I remember when I got it.
Anyhow, think about that when you are inspecting a gift for someone. A personalized gift for real is the exquisite gift. It can be uncostly but it for real is the understanding that counts. The recipient will know that a lot of understanding went into the choice process. They will appreciate and cherish their personalized gift for years to come. It will make them feel special and that's a great feeling.
